Sometimes there are some connection issues when using Lightyear VPN on Windows.It shows "Connected", but you couldn't browse the Internet or breakthrough the GFW. 1. Try different servers or different network modes
In LightyearVPN app's setting view, switch between different network modes. You can select "Bypass China mode" or "Global Mode". At the same time, try different servers. The servers with BGP label are recommended if you use it from China.
2. Try other browsers
Sometimes the proxy cannot connect because of the browser settings. Firefox needs to be manually switched to system proxy, which can be found in LightyearVPN's settings view. Chrome may be due to the interference of some browser extensions, such as AstarVPN, HolaVPN, Unblock Youku, SwitchyOmega, Greasemonkey and other extensions. You need to close these extensions. If IE and EDGE are not working as well, it may also be due to system network settings, which can be fixed in Network and Internet.
Regarding the problem of Google Chrome not being able to access the Internet, here is one more sentence. The plug-ins mentioned above take over Chrome’s proxy settings, so you need to cancel their proxy settings on Chrome. You can find it in Chrome's settings, and then disable it.
3. Impact of other VPN software
It may be that other VPN softwares have been installed on your computer before, and the network settings of the system have been changed. As a result, Lightyear VPN cannot normally proxy the system network. You can try to delete Astrill VPN, Shadowsocks client, or other VPN softwares. In the setting interface of Lightyear VPN, press the reset network button, and then restart the computer.
4. Start virtual network mode
You can try to enable the "Virtual Network Mode", 2.0.0 or later versions support this feature. After it's enabled, all TCP and UDP traffic on the computer will be forwarded to the virtual network mode on the computer. 5. 360, or Tencent Manager and other anti-virus software interference
These security software would block the network settings of LightyearVPN and interfere with VPN network. These include 360 Security Guard, Tencent Guangjia, Master Lu, QQ Manager, and more. First make sure that LightyearVPN is not included in the blacklist of these softwares. If there is, please delete it first. Then try to close or delete these software, and try the network connection again.
6. Problems with system network settings
It may be system network proxy problem. Exit LightyearVPN first. Open the control panel, open the Internet options, click the connection tab, and click LAN settings. Then set according to the settings below, cancel "Automatically detect settings", cancel "Use automatic configuration script", select "Use a proxy server for LAN", and fill in 127.0.0.1:1196. Finally, don't forget to press the OK and Apply buttons, so that it will take effect.
7. Reset network
Try the "Reset Settings", "Reset Network" and "Reset DNS" buttons in LightyearVPN's settings view, and then restart your computer.
8. Reinstall the latest version
